Android N name could be revealed in a few weeks

At Google I/O 2016, the search giant had announced a contest asking Android users suggest name for the next iteration of its mobile operating system. Now the company has tweeted it will reveal the name in a few weeks.

At company’s annual developer conference, Google had announced the contest will end on June 8, and now its time for all of us to know the final name. If reports are anything to go by, Android N could be named Nutella but there has been strong support for Indian dessert Neyyappam.

For Google, Android N is a very important operating system since it tries to bring down the fragmentation. Google released Android N for developers well ahead of time in an effort to increase adoption.

Android M, which was released on October 5 with new Nexus smartphones, is running on just over 10 percent devices eight months after its launch. Google is expected to make Android N public sometime around October, the time when it will also announce new Nexus smartphones.
